Honestly, I've never understood Sgt. Peppers cultural infatuation. For me, Pet Sounds is a far more touching and musically complex piece of work. Brian Wilson essentially wrote it by himself, he had no genius counterpart the way that Lennon and McCartney did. Not to mention, it flows so much more beautifully as a concept album, it deals with aspects of our life's song by song the same way that Dark Side of The Moon does, however, on a more personal and less broad scale. Sgt. Peppers is a masterpiece, I enjoy it thoroughly, but I don't even think it's the best Beatles album. It's a matter of perception, but I don't understand the mass appeal.
