one of three Stones albums I purchased this year,I was only just learning about the fall-out of the Rolling Stones leaving Decca and the damage compilations from Mafia thug Allen Klein were doing to their new releases.
...still play it today, and 50 years on- it's held together reasonably well.
"Pulled the rebel to the Floor "....was my kinda lingo at High School.
I'd spotted on the sleeve notes that Alan Parsons was involved.
A slight aside...but I consider myself lucky to have witnessed the 'Stacia Jiggle'...live at a Hawkwind gig...miss Blake threw some shapes!
However ...in 1975 ,we were being fed gossip/news that all was not well in the "Hall of the mountain Grill'...Brock and Turner were at each other's throats(literally!) ...coupled with the dislike of Lemmy and his ways.[this was to be his last vinyl appearance]
Think I paid £4.49p for my gatefold copy from old store stalwarts SelectaDisc. There was a bog standard sleeve (same price!?)
After School I took it home and didn't know what to expect...it became a bedroom favourite, still have my copy an amazing 50 years on- and sadly don't possess a CD version.
Always felt an Arthur Brown/ Vincent Crane atmosphere on this...the slightest of fuzz on that Ricky bass....hooked me then and now. It's scary to think that it was half a century ago- RIP Turner & Kilminster.
