Rush. I think all their 80s work was really good even works like Hold Your Fire.

I think I have to go with Queen because they were a global band in the 80's without really sacrificing their originality. They shifted their sound with the times but I think they did so the most gracefully.

Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Van Halen, and Tom Petty all navigated the shift in tastes very well as well to me though only Aerosmith and to a smaller degree had the same quality of output as Queen did as the decade rolled over.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are, IMO, the only band on the list that really got better as the 70's turned into the 80's. When you talk about the greatness of any other band listed you're, by and large, talking about their 70's output. I mean, is there anything Aerosmith did in the 80's that stands up next to "Rocks" or "Toys In The Attic"? Did KISS do anything in the 80's that can beat "Destroyer" or the classic first album? Yes, some of the bands had big hits or artistic triumphs in the 80's but, except for Petty, their glory days were the 70's.
