What 70s bands were able to adapt to the 80s best? I know they were plenty that kept on truckin' through the 80s, but only some were really able to adapt and thrive in the decade of the 80s. Who did it best? I know I've missed some so I'm listing other in the poll, if you pick other, let us know who your pick is.

None. They all took a terrible and irreparable nose dive. Perhaps the one band that did manage to have a few ok albums in the 80s was King Crimson but they are beyond weak compared to their 70s sound.

I gotta go with ZZ Top myself, they're 80s output is in no way as good as their 70s (not even close IMO). But they did sell some albums and got plenty of MTV air time in the 80s. I'm just glad they've found the way back to their blues roots.

My pick would be either Van Halen or Aerosmith. Went with Aerosmith. With Permanent Vacation and Pump they really adapted to the 80s very well! And they even chugged along happily through the 90s with Get A Grip and Nine Lives.

With lovers, buggers, & thieves.
Rush. They had a full, very successful run in the 70's that continued through the 80's. They were able to adapt to the times, while still staying true to themselves.

I was tempted to say Van Halen, but I think they were an 80's band in the 70's... before their time.
