Oh I think Deep Purple has pleanty of riffs that I like more ("Burn", "Speed King", "Space Truckin'", etc) but the fact of the matter is that "Smoke On the Water" is very likely the most well known riff ever.

"Satisfaction" doesn't quite surprise me as #1 but I think "Iron Man" is the riff to end all riffs and should have topped it. :D

I was just going to say... if not Smoke On the Water, then definitely Iron Man. Even my old high school band played that one. :heheh:

Nice to see my fabulous Mr. Page represented as well. :D

The theme of that list is pretty evident, the 60's and 70's were the best times in rock n' roll :tup:

I really like "Plug In Baby" but it doesn't strike me as having an amazing riff at all. I like it but it's not even all that prominent. Also I don't think Dinosaur Jr. should be anywhere near this list.
