    Steve Harris - British Lion

If it's coming from Steve Harris. it just has to be awesome. Right! :) Even after all of these years and all of Maiden's success, Harris in my opinion still does not get his due when it comes to being one of the greatest creative songwtiters and arrangers not just in Metal, but all of rock...

    The "Comeback" album...

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. If you want to be technical, you are right. "Done With Mirrors" did precede "Permanent Vacation" That is all it is noteworthy for. But considering that Done With Mirrors did not exactly set the rock world on fire, and was not exactly a "belter"...

    Steve Harris - British Lion

I must agree. That is some pretty cool cover art.

    Steve Harris - British Lion

Anyone else besides me looking forward to hearing this album? Reading some recent interviews from Steve, he says that it will be nothing like the progressive metal that many people are expecting and will have more of a 70's British Hard Rock feel. I think it's going to be very interesting...

I always liked "You Better Hang Up" from Don Henley

    Iron Maiden (Official Thread)

Agreed, Di'Anno was great on the first two Maiden Albums. His singing was raw and the material suited him well. But I think that for all of the reasons he was replaced by Dickinson, first and foremost was that he did not fit into the musical vision that Steve Harris had for the band, and let's...

    The "Comeback" album...

What about Permanent Vacation? I think " Done with Mirrors" was really supposed to be Aerosmith's big comeback album with everbody back in the band, but there is no doubt that "Permanent Vacation" was the start of their real comeback.

    Powerful Live Performances

I saw Iron Maiden on their Maiden England 2012 Tour in Wheatland, CA (near Sacramento) in early August. It may have been the best show I've ever seen in my 35 years of going to concerts. 30+ years into the game and Maiden's live peformances are as legendary as they ever were. I was just...

"I Don't Think They Ever Topped Their First Album!"

Don't get me wrong. I liked "Paper Money" as well. I just think the first album was out of this world

Van Halen - Fair Warning (Rate This Album)

So Sammy took his place and they continued with more light hearted party rockers Except they added more keyboards and less screams. Nobody ever mistook VH for Rush. With or without DLR

"I Don't Think They Ever Topped Their First Album!"

I liked "Don't Look Back" as well. I don't know if it was as good as their first, but I thought it was a great 2nd Album. And even though the distinctive guitar sounds and harmonies are still there I don't think it was a carbon copy of the first album at all

    Top 10 metal albums

You are probably right about British Steel but it does have some crunchers in there so I included it. Again, for me it's that line between Metal and Hard Rock. There are a couple of albums such as Y&T's "Earthshaker" or The Scorps "Lovedrive" that I could easily plug in there. They may...

I can't say that about Foreigner as I like both Double Vision and Head Games better than their debut album.

    Top 10 metal albums

Thanks. These Top 10 lists are fun to do but there are so many that I've skipped over that may on another day me the list. And where's is the line between metal and hard rock and prog. Some may think "Mindcrime" was more progressive than metal and while most might think "British Steel"...

Best heavy metal band of the 80's

This is an easy one for me....Iron Maiden Musicianship, Songwriting, Dynamics, Power and everything else. Maiden defined 80's Metal in my opinion.

Van Halen - Fair Warning (Rate This Album)

I think Fair Warning has both some of EVH's best and most underrated riffs as well as some of Roth's best vocals. "When Push Comes To Shove" is one of the best tracks VH has ever done IMO I'd personally rank Fair Warning second only to VH I

    Live Albums

There have been alot of really good live albuns over the years, but I still think Maiden's "Live After Death" is still tops. I think it comes closer to documenting the "live" sound and energy than anything I've heard. At the least it is a genuine document of Maiden's live performances...
