No matter how hard I try, I just can't bring myself to like this one.
I'm a huge fan but I never play this album, ever.
Not a track on it that appeals to me.
The follow-up in a similar style, 'Dragontown', is much, much better and I play that one a lot.
I've seen Judas Priest four times.
Each of the dates below links to a short review of the gig as far as I can recall it (almost 50 years ago!!)
11th May 1974 (supporting Budgie) at Scarborough Floral Hall - their first tour, I believe
27th September 1974 at Scarborough Penthouse - includes a...
Frost* - 'Milliontown'
For some bizarre reason they changed the sleeve when issuing it on vinyl, so now you'll find it like this...
... but you're more likely to recognise it looking like this - iconic design.
Can't for the life of me understand why they changed it.
Absolutely superb...
It Bites - 'The Tall Ships'
Always irritates me when albums are released on vinyl and mastered at 45rpm - why?!!
I have two or three such examples (two by this band).
I like the stuff on this one. It's available on a number of differently titled albums, but beware - they're not all Alice songs!
The recording made at the Toronto Rock N Roll Revival in 1969 may be the most widely reproduced Alice Cooper live recording. It has been released by many different...
Three more additions:
Van Der Graaf Generator - 'H to He Who am the Only One' - £6.00
Blondie - 'The Best of...' - £8.00
Sting - 'The Soul Cages' - £6.00
Sting and Blondie are almost perfect; the VDGG is a bit crackly and clicky but then, it is over FIFTY years old!!
And if I want perfect...
Peter Gabriel - 'Rated PG'
Contains two of my all-time favourites of his: 'That'll Do', and 'In Your Eyes'.
I take it that the rock community know that when iconic British radio broadcaster Terry Wogan died in 2016, Gabriel's 'That'll Do' was one of the tracks that he had requested be performed...
I loved CBB (or CCBB if you prefer).
Saw them a couple of times before they hit the big time with 'Couldn't Get It Right'.
Strangely, I have all of their albums except this one.
In fact, you've just encouraged me to fish out my favourite which I'll play in a few minutes...
Alice Cooper - 'Welcome 2 My Nightmare'
Far and away the best of his solo material since the original 'Welcome To My Nightmare' debut.
I would gladly pay double to see him perform this album in its entirety.
Who?! I hear you ask...
Well... https://gigsnstuff787616231.wordpress.com/category/artists-bands/a-band-called-o/
and also https://abandcalledo.boards.net/
I like this album a lot but, as per the instructions included with it, you need to turn up the bass on side 1 because they've crammed so much onto that side that the bass had to be turned down.
Easily done but irritating all the same.
Favourite track? 'The Pass' :metal:
