Van Der Graaf Generator (Official Thread)

Thanks. I suppose I could have done this but I guess I'm lazy. I did notice you left out two musicians: Jeff Peach(flute on AGM) and Robert Fripp(guitar on H to he..). I know Fripp was never really a member though just like Jon Anderson was never a member of King Crimson.

Bands that didn't make a "Live" album

My first thought was Asia but they did make "live in Moscow" at one point. My official guess would be Van Halen. They don't have any live albums that I know of but I could very well be wrong.

Van Der Graaf Generator (Official Thread)

Hello there. I'm wondering if anyone could please provide me a list of all the members who have played in VDGG(not necessarily full time members). I know the core lineups but would like to see a list all in one place of everyone who has been in the band. Thanks.

    Progressive Instrumental Recommendations??

They were really great at Nearfest Apocalypse this year. I had seen them one and a half times before(missed half their set at Progday way back when). A very good live fusion band.

Vivian Campbell regrets the Dio mudslinging

I wonder what Ronnie's widow thinks of all this. Let's hope she's nothing like Frank Zappa's widow.

Robert Fripp(of King Crimson)quits the music business

Just found out about this. I must admit, it took me by surprise. King Crimson’s Robert Fripp Quits Music Business, Saying It Has Become ‘An Exercise in Futility’

Review Uriah Heep - Demons And Wizards (1972)

Along with Rush I would consider Heep to be one of the first bands to combine heavy rock and progressive rock. This is a great album. It's not perfect but it's very strong and has one of my all time favorite songs in "the wizard."

    Rock's Most Overrated Songs

Re: Rock's Most Overated Songs Led Zeppelin-Kashmir So much more could have been done with it. It's certainly not bad but it's rather repetitive and doesn't really go anywhere. At least Stairway builds and has a nice flow to it. I read once that LZ actually got stuck playing this. It just goes...

Need help identifying an obscure 80's rock song

Neither one of those is the one I heard but both sound like good songs. I like Queensryche anyway.

Need help identifying an obscure 80's rock song

Several years ago I heard a song on the internet that sounded like an alternative rock song from the eighties but it was a bit more rocking and kind of light on the alternative sound. Anyway, the only lyrics I remember were something like "call for a revolution, call for a holiday.....of...

    Hippy "psychedelic" songs

Some of my favorites include: Journey to the center of your mind- Amboy dukes (one of the earliest heavy metal guitar riffs is in the middle of the song). Incense and Peppermints-Strawberry alarm clock Crimson and Clover- Tommy James and the Shondells Psychotic Reaction- The Count...

    Brand new to the forums

Hello there. My real name is Mike. I just joined a few minutes ago. I am a music lover in general but especially rock and anything related. Here is my story. When I was a kid the only band I paid much attention to was the Beatles. When I was about 11-12 I started to get into music in a big...
