Here is VH's unreleased demo "Light In The Sky". Though the song title is similar to "Light Up The Sky", they are two completely different songs. I think the slower tempo on this track is a nice change of pace, and allows you to really hear all of Eddie's nuisances throughout without being stepped on by the bass and drums -- which is usually the case.

The unremarkable intro is about twice as long as it should be so starting the video at the .30 mark won't go on your permanent record.

I haven't heard every VH demo, but isn't it rare for one not to have been redone or re-recorded for a later album? (unless this one was and I missed it)

Possibly a controversial comment with VH fan's but I like Van Halen III and I actually own x2 cds of it also I like *******. which gets an occasional play as well.

I listen to all of them from the debut up through Balance to varying degrees.. III and ADKOT only get played once every year or two, just to remind myself why I don't listen to either one.

I happen to like all of the Van Hagar albums. They don't sound like classic lineup or early years Van Halen, but they are still good/solid albums.

I don't think I ever got around to listening to BALANCE although I did buy the cd version of it several years ago but I never played it and then sold it.

VH II & FOR WOMEN AND CHILDREN ONLY are good listens but I never really listen to VH anymore these days except for as previously stated sometimes I dig out *******. and give it a listen.

I agree, it is rare for at least some parts of a VH demo not to have been used on a song years later. Even if it's only one small part of the song like at the 1:16 mark here on "Act Like It Hurts" (which sounds like the cowbell, drums and guitar part on "Drop Dead Legs" just before the long, outro solo)

I think another demo like that is "I Wanna Be Your Lover". There is nothing about this song (as great as it already is) that I hear on any other VH song. This should have been on VH I.

On the other hand, I hear parts of three VH songs (Mean Streets, Romeo Delight and Hot For Teacher) in the "Voodoo Queen" demo (though, once agin, I think the song is already great as it is).

Ya know... this band really could do no wrong back then. It bums me out to hear about the conflicts within the band back then, but maybe in some way, shape, form or fashion that somehow helped them more than it hurt them. After all, what band didn't have internal strife or conflicts within the band? Yet Van Halen was still atop the heap
