Wow...new BOA after all these years!

I bought their first lp way back in the day. Great record!

I remember seeing them on Midnight Special or Rock Concert right after they played a show in my city. I could hear the music from my house (close to the park they played at) and recognized Jim Dandy's voice right away! They had that 3 guitar lineup and used to smash their guitars at their shows. I read that they quit doing that after an officer at one of their shows got guitar schrapnel in his eye.

I also remember reading that they gave out a deed to 1 inch of land with the purchase of one of their albums. I think it was Raunch and Roll. Speaking of which, that has got to be one of the top 10 live albums released. Great performance and production (Dowd, I think). Love the bass intro on When Electricity Came to Arkansas!

Nice to see an old band get a new life, but one thing always put me off about BOA and that's Jim Dandy's vocals.

I do think Raunch & Roll was their best album, captured them in their natural element.

I had no idea they had a new album coming out, until reading about it in Classic Rock Magazine this morning (Sorry, hadn't seen this thread 'til now). As it turns out, it's "just" 5 new songs and 10 unreleased studio out-takes. I will probably get a copy though. I've heard good things about the new material and the archived stuff should be interesting as well.

I love Black Oak Arkansas. They had some really good songs with decent guitarwork, and Jim Dandy is a hit or miss. Sometimes, his vocals were alright and fitting, other times they were horrendous. He had a good stage presence though.

You can't get any of there albums or even a compilation cd in the few remaining record shops in the UK unless you order from Amazon I guess?. I once saw a BOA compilation cd in a record shop in London town about 20 years ago and NEVER bought it and I have NEVER seen anything else of there's since!!.

@E-Z are they out of print? I wonder about remasters?

I presume that the couple of remaining record shops in London in 2023 possibly either think that there is no demand or maybe have just overlooked ordering any of there cds?. Even mention of MOUNTAIN on another topic thread is pitiful because there is currently only 'one' Best of Mountain cd on CBS records in a London record shop that I have seen in the last 10 years although when it comes to Mountain I fortunately bought all my 1970s Mountain cds as well as all my 1970s Johnny Winter cds back in the 1990s when all those albums from both band and artist were just sitting in the cd racks in London record stores such as the Virgin, HMV & Tower records stores and with regards to Johnny Winter in particular a number of my cds that I bought back in the 1990s were USA import cds that are non-existent now in London.
