^^I've wondered that myself over the years EJP...:think:

Blue Oyster Cult has the same "umlaut" in their name and I can't remember what it means...:bonk:

its an umlaut, its a german thing.
A diacritical mark (two dots) placed over a vowel in German to indicate a change in sound.
