E-Z,

Rod Evans sounds pretty good on this song. Pretty good tune, too.

Yeah agree a lot of that Deep Purple Mk.1 material from the first three albums featuring Rod Evans on vocals and Nick Simper on bass along Blackmore, Lord & Paice makes for quite a good listen.

Last year, I bought the CD release of Now That's What I Call Music II. Bird of Paradise by Snowy White was one of the tracks on the compilation. Was Bird of Paradise a hit song back in 1984?

It was in the UK in the early part of 1984. Bit of a 'dreamy' slow song from memory and bit of a surprise hit single in my opinion?. The song got quite a bit of airplay on the UK national charts and also on the then new UK MTV channel but my interest in the song was not so much the song it's self but who had wrote it and had played it.

Yeah Jake T I thought Uriah Heep had a song with Bird in the title of course Bird of Prey off the Salisbury album.

Bluebird Revisited on the Stephen Stills II album in 1971.

Bluebird on the Robin Trower In City Dreams album in 1977.

E-Z,
I just looked up the info, and as you mentioned, Snowy was part of Pink Floyd's touring band during the Animals and The Wall concerts. Pretty cool!

I thought Snowy done alright playing heavy rock along side Californian guitarist Scot Gorham especially on the two Thin Lizzy albums China Town & Renegade and in live concert but after he quit Lizzy he's been playing straight blues for the last 30 years although I don't listen to any of his blues albums as I prefer heavy rock.

And I like Gorham as part of the guitar duo of him and Brian Robertson on Thin Lizzy's hits The Boys Are Back In Town and Jailbreak. Whiskey in the Jar, I know, was recorded before they both were in the band.
