...is one of my favorite female fromted metal/rock band that sold more than 10 million albums worldwide. They started in 1996 by vocalist Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. Their music is symphonic metal, gothic metal, although Sharon said they fell into a symphonic rock genre with various influences.

Pretty huge on the undergorund after the first album but after Mother Earth...they were known worldwide.. Ice Queen was # 2 on the Dutch charts.

Nice... Now I can cross this off my list to mention in my Double Dutch-journal... Great band, awesome music. Sharon has an amazing voice! I am not a fan of this type of music but Within Temptation is a band I would gladly make an exception for.

I have their The Heart of Everything c.d.! They definitely fit the mold of their genre but regardless great music with a great vocalist!
