Hi,

Haven't been around in quite some time due to emigration, health issues etc but hoping to get back into it now.

Hoping some of you might help me put a playlist together....

I go to my buddy's most Friday nights to shoot pool, drink beer & listen to good music.

One of my fav playlists has a lot of Ten Years After, Spooky Tooth, Be Bop Deluxe, Robin Trower. - It's great to hear those less popular but no less talented bands :)

However, I'm struggling to come up with a new playlist of similar music. Bands like the above - bluesy rock with great guitar, but not TOO traditional rock and roll Bill Haley sound.

Any ideas gratefully considered!

Really? No one can suggest a single semi-forgotten classic for my playlist?

I'd bet loads of you have listened to such a song in the last couple of days?

If I've listed this in the wrong forum, please do point me in the right direction!

When I was only 17
Fell in love with a Gypsy queen.............:)

hadn't listened to that in years - thanks Jake!

Thanks to everyone else too. I know there's plenty of list sites online, but was curious to see what you guys would recommend.

All the replies are appreciated & I'll be adding in some of Jakes' suggestions for sure

bbif -- here's a list of songs that are mostly from the classic rock era that you might be interested in for your next Friday night of partying.

I Am Not Willing - Moby Grape
White Bird - It's A Beautiful Day
Death And Destruction - New Riders of the Purple Sage
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys - Traffic
South California Purples - Chicago
Chimes - J.Geils Band
Anyday - Derek & The Dominos
Wishing Well - Free
The Serpent - Genesis
I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home - Grand Funk
Live With Me - Humble Pie
County Fair - Joe Walsh
Nantucket Sleighride - Mountain
Chest Fever - The Band
Love Like A Man - Ten Years After
Wild Child - Sugarloaf
Mr. Skin - Spirit
Cotton Growing Man - Spooky Tooth
Gonna Be More Suspicious - Robin Trower
Knife-Edge - ELP
Look To The Future - Journey
Mirage - Santana
Mozambique - Bob Dylan
Blind Prayer - Rod Stewart
Space Station #5 - Montrose
California Here I Come - Shocking Blue
Modern Love - Peter Gabriel

The thing I like about listening to songs like these with other like-minded people is the conversations they spark. It's a never-ending running commentary of your youth, your life and maybe even the music industry itself.
