I looked back on this thread to see what I may have wrote on Motorhead & much to my surprise I only wrote one small post wishing him well & praising Lemmy's Headcat album which I still listen to a lot.
Anyway...in the early 80's a friend picked up the live album which had just came out. I don't remember what I picked up that day but Motorhhead was beginning to pick up momentum in the world of metal which is why my friend picked it up. We went back to his house, slapped it on his turntable, & man did we think it sucked! It just sounded like noise. A couple of years later I picked up a strange compilation record (I can't remember the title) but the only 2 songs I remember on it were Status Quo "Pictures of Matchstick Men" & Motorhead's cover of "Louie Louie". It was that version of Louie Louie that made me a Motorhead fan. I decided to buy a Motorhead record & seen they just released a double compilation album set titled No Remorse so I bought it & loved every track on it. I'm not kidding there is not one bad track on that compilation & not only was that cover of Louie Louie on it but there was a crazy cover of Johnny Kidd's "Please Don't Touch" performed with Girlschool & even a crazier version of Tammy Wynette's "Stand by Your Man" performed with...Wendy O Williams...WOW!!
I was hooked on tunes like Killed By Death, Iron Fist, Snaggletooth, Metropolis, We are the Road Crew, No Class, & of course Ace of Spades which sometime during that time in the mid 1980's MTV picked up the comedy show the Young Ones from England & one of the episodes featured Motorhead performing Ace of Spades & I was blown away. In November of 1986 I got to see Motorhead up close at Buff State College in Buffalo,NY. Opening the show was the Cro-mags & Wendy O Williams. It was a wild show. Motorhead had just released one of my favorite albums..."Orgasmatron". I will say my favorite album by Motorhead is Ace of Spades but I also love Orgasmatron, Iron Fist, 1916, Overkill, the debut especially for the killer version of Train Kept a Rollin'. I was fortunate to see them again in 2003 opening for Dio & Iron Maiden in Cleveland.
