Formed in 1975 by Ian Kilmister (Lemmy) after a spell with Hawkwind. He set about putting together some hard edged rock with elements of punk. In time albums such as "Motorhead", "Overkill", "Bomber", "Ace Of Spades" and "Iron Fist" would become staple fodder for Metal Heads everywhere and have influenced bands such as Metallica and Megadeth. Still rockin' today Lemmy remains at the heart of this great band.

Iron Fist

Re: Motorhead

I love your taste in music as rule Sox, but I am not a big Motorhead fan. I do have "Ace of Spades" in the library though.

Much prefer Saxon or Maiden for this kind of music.

Still thanks, Lemmy and his boys deserve a thread of their own.

The only song I have.:grinthumb

Re: Motorhead

It's Funny LG I had not listned to Saxon or Judas Priest for years and I have not seen Motorhead since 1984 but just lately I am playing their stuff more and more.

Re: Motorhead

I've been the opposite Sox, beeng playing Saxon all the time the last month...about 2/3's through their discography which is Huge!! I never realized how much music they produced.

Loved Lemmy in Hawkwind, I have a thread for that band that is knee deep in dust bunnies,,,maybe I could ask Tracey to dust it for me...:heheh:

I know fat chance,,,,I'll post in it tomorrow now that you have sparked my memory with this thread.

Re: Motorhead

You Know I think I will take a little backtrack and get the Saxon and Priest revolving again.

Re: Motorhead

Been playing Unleash the Beast a lot recently, didn't get great reviews but I just love that album,,,it's in my top 5 now of their discography.

Better get back on topic before Magic hits me with her broom.:D

What is the best Motorhead album to start with in your opinion?

Re: Motorhead

I will always put Ace Of Spades forward but No Sleep Til Hammersmith, Bomber or Iron Fist shows them at what I think was the peak.

And Overkill of course.

Re: Motorhead

You're welcome.

When I want something fast with no frills or fancy tricks I turn to Motorhead for my gut punching rock needs. ;)
