Ah Thin Lizzy - what a band. Robbo was a real hero round our way back in the day because he had gone to our school - Williamwood High School in Glasgow, which was a zoo back in the 70s....

Saw them on their first tour with the classic line up at Glasgow Apollo supporting BTO on 1st May 1975, and after that on their first headlining tour for Jailbreak at Glasgow City Hall in 1976, and on all the tours after that right up till the point when Robbo left to form Wild Horses with Jimmy Bain. The high points of the gigs in Glasgow was always that moment when Robbo got his big solo in Still in Love with You, and he was highlighted on his own under the big white spotlight, and then again when Phil was introducing the band and it came to Robbos turn. Bloody marvellous.

My all time favourite 'Lizzy' album that I play more than any of the others is CHINATOWN from 1980 I like that album from start to finish.

My second favourite album is BAD REPUTATION from 1978 and my joint third favourite albums are FIGHTING from 1975 & THUNDER AND LIGHTNING from 1983.

Also the early Thin Lizzy with Phil, Eric & Brian and the three albums that they produced between 1971-1973 are in there own way a good listen of that early 1970s progressive rock era before Eric left and they started to get more heavy as the 1970s wore on.
