UPDATE: ARW Change Name to ‘Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman’

The Yes offshoot band Anderson Rabin Wakeman (ARW) have officially changed their band name to Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman. A North American tour is planned next.

“It’s very simple: The fans want it, we want it and it’s our right to use the name,” Anderson says in a press release. “Yes music is in our DNA.”

Anderson is staking his claim as Yes’ original lead vocalist. Steve Howe currently leads Yes with a lineup that includes fellow longtime member Alan White, returning ’80s- and ’90s-era contributors Geoff Downes and Billy Sherwood, and singer Jon Davison, a more recent addition. They lost their last remaining co-founder with the death of Chris Squire in 2015.

UPDATE: Yes have responded to ARW’s name change, apparently acknowledging that they can’t stop the trio from touring as Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman. “While Jon Anderson has rights to use the name as one of the co-owners of the trademark,” an official statement says, “Yes’ position is that every effort should be made by promoters, ticket agencies and all involved to respect Yes’ magnificent and loyal fanbase and minimize confusion regarding the use of Yes Featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman.”

The official website for Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman has already been switched to YESfeaturingARW.com, and features a video touting a new name for “the definitive lineup of the greatest progressive rock band ever.” This new tour is set to begin on Aug. 26, with shows continuing in October. A complete list of dates, cities and venues is below.

Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman have also announced work on new music, even as a concert recorded at the Manchester Apollo during the final U.K. show from this year’s European tour is being prepared for release later in 2017.

The trio was part of a Yes contingency that was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last Friday, along with Bill Bruford, Howe, Tony Kaye, Squire and Alan White. Tellingly, however, Anderson, Rabin and Wakeman arrived separately.

Anderson was a member of Yes from 1968–80, 1982–88 and 1990–2004. Wakeman ended up serving over five different periods in 1971–74, 1976–80, 1990–92, 1995–96, 2002–04, ending with Anderson’s most recent departure. Rabin was on board from 1982–94. They first appeared onstage together in 2016, though talk of a collaboration had percolated for years.

I haven't been interested in Yes since Drama but remain a loyal fan of those early years.
Glad they got their just acknowledgement and were entired in the Hall Of Fame but I'm not really too excited by either line up myself. Yes were a 70s prog band to me and a very great one ....to each their own though so more power to you people who are interested in their later material.

The true Yes is back! The other band should change their name. It was disgraceful the way they kicked out Anderson in the first place.

With lovers, buggers, & thieves.
Yes is one of my favorite bands, but I must say the quality of their output these last 30 years has
not been good enough to carry on without Chris Squire, co-founder of the band... with or without Jon Anderson.

It is pointless to play the nostalgia circuit without the key-players.

Yes currently has no original members, and only two of the five are from the classic period. ARW is only three, and an odd assortment at that.

Couldn't agree more.
