Not going to listen to the new track until I've bought the album. Opeth seem to always deliver even when straying from their old roots.

I usually listen to one, max two, tracks in advance, but in this case, I needed something to make me excited for this album. I'm not a fan of this new trend with bands releasing 3 or 4 tracks before the album is out. If I’ve heard nearly half the album before I get it, it takes something away from the first spin.

Yeah I haven't been a fan of that. I have heard two of the new songs and that's about it. Max I will go is two singles put out.

I think while its fine if people dislike the recent string of prog albums, they are going to have to get the feck over the lack of growls. They may never return and I for one am more than ok with that as long as the material is still great. The band are all about evolving their style with things they were influenced by or inspired by in those times and I don't think growls are needed to emphasise that. The vocal style complaint was fine the first time but its now a very tiresome and rather obnoxious thing to keep ramming at the band. There's streams of the new album up but I refuse to hear it until my copy comes in and from being told there's no growls I am perfectly ok with it in fact I prefer they keep going the route they want to go on.

After a few spins, I'm definitely feeling this one more than the previous two. It feels more vibrant and it does have some heavy parts on it.

Plus the guitar solos thrown in here and there with some instrumental tracks, makes for a wonderfully done album. Certainly one of the better albums this year for sure, and there's been quite a few.
