I just listened to this band yesterday. I love Metallica so I thought I would like Megadeth because of Mustaine. I absolutely love it! Dave Mustaine's guitar playing is 10 times better than when he was with Metallica. I especially love Peace Sells. It's so catchy!

It's really strange seeing a post like this nowadays. It's nice to see a kid discovering this stuff for the first time. I bet I'm not the only one having flashbacks. Enjoy.

Yeah, I thought Megadeth was a little too new for me at first. I thought Zeppelin, Aerosmith etc. was better but when I started really listening to their music, it really opened my eyes. It's harder than most of the other stuff I listen to, but I just stretched my limits and I really like it.:):grinthumb

Great song, especially the songwriting. The melody is very catchy. The picking intro fits the song very well, and a very smooth build up. As a songwriter, I find it interesting that a metal artist would choose to have multiple languages in one song. This man is brilliant. I've listened to several hours of interviews with him and he's got a great mind. He wrote this song as a protest against suicide, and writes several songs about politics, religion etc. He's not like the average metal songwriter who writes the majority of their songs about violence and sex. I'm not saying that there aren't any others and I don't want to start a whole other discussion.

Dave Mustaine doesn't write metal lyrics, he writes metal music. His lyrics show what is going on in his mind, and if you listen to Megadeth, you will find that he's got a lot going on.

See what he writes are metal lyrics because in context his lyrics fit the metal songs he writes. Metal lyrics shouldn't be pigeon-holed.

What a great band! Most of you have been on here long enough to realize that my favorite is Led Zeppelin. Well.. at least it was. I just started listening to Megadeth about 3 weeks ago and, I haven't stopped. I just don't understand how I could be looking all over for a new metal band to listen to (with my picky restrictions) and I found what I wanted and so much more.

Dave Mustaine is a great person who has amazing musical ability. His outstanding songwriting combined with his scarily awesome voice combined with his unstoppable guitar playing is truly remarkable. Honestly, I thought Jimmy Page was the best guitarist in the world but I'm realizing now that Mustaine is just as good or better. Of course, that could fairly be debated, but I don't want to go there now.

On a similar note, I like his voice more than I do Robert's, but you can't compare them because their styles and ranges are different. Dave Mustaine sounds like he's had more vocal training than Plant, but that's just my opinion. :)

Thanks for listening to my rant.:bonk:

These are some of my favorite songs from Megadeth:

In no particular order:

Symphony Of Destruction

Peace Sells

In My Darkest Hour

Kill The King

A Tout Le Monde

^^ Really enjoying it, particularly the opening up to about 1:15. Imo "Super Collider" had ONE outstanding track ("The Blackest Crow"). I hope this is not the only good track on the new record.

Here's the "Dystopia" track list:

01. The Threat Is Real
02. Dystopia
03. Fatal Illusion
04. Death From Within
05. Bullet To The Brain
06. Post American World
07. Poisonous Shadows
08. Look Who's Talking
09. Conquer Or Die
10. Lying In State
11. The Emperor
12. Last Dying Wish
13. Foreign Policy (FEAR cover)

And the artwork:
