Am I the only one likes Pet Sounds more than Peppers?

Honestly, I've never understood Sgt. Peppers cultural infatuation. For me, Pet Sounds is a far more touching and musically complex piece of work. Brian Wilson essentially wrote it by himself, he had no genius counterpart the way that Lennon and McCartney did. Not to mention, it flows so much more beautifully as a concept album, it deals with aspects of our life's song by song the same way that Dark Side of The Moon does, however, on a more personal and less broad scale. Sgt. Peppers is a masterpiece, I enjoy it thoroughly, but I don't even think it's the best Beatles album. It's a matter of perception, but I don't understand the mass appeal.

Pet Sounds is a far more touching...

Cannot argue with that part, but the other part of your post is, as you said, a matter of perspective.

I love both albums, but if I had to pick one over the other, it would have to be "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".

Best or worst is a difficult thing to measure, but it’s not my favourite Beatles album either.

Piffle! When I want "touching," I'll listen to Michael Bublé.

Can't comment on this as I've never listened to Pet Sounds, only heard the odd songs. I guess you've already seen Rolling Stones' '500 Greatest Albums of All Time' which places Sgt Peppers at number one and Pet Sounds at no. two?

Nor mine, that would be Abbey Road, to me an album that's damn near perfection.

You've never heard "A Day In The Life" or "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" or "With A Little Help From My Friends"? Wow.

Will this clear things up:

"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".............Yes
"With a Little Help from My Friends"................Yes
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds".....................Yes
"Getting Better"....................................No
"Fixing a Hole".....................................No
"She's Leaving Home"................................No
"Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!"................No
"Within You Without You"............................No
"When I'm Sixty-Four"...............................Yes
"Lovely Rita".......................................No
"Good Morning Good Morning".........................No
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)"...No
"A Day in the Life".................................Yes

I don't think this would qualify as me listening to that album.

There are loads of people I know who have never listened to a Beatles album. They just don't like them and that's fine.

I agree with Tray about Abbey Road being a mighty fine album and I also have a couple of other Beatles albums (including Sgt. Pepper) but I have to admit I don't listen to them much.
