Is anyone experiencing unusual things on CRF?

When a new member signs up, they have to verify that they are human by typing in a word and also have to fill out the form. Who in the world has the time (or reason) to sit there and register a bunch of phony user names all day? :uh:

Forum spammers will do this JakeT and so will mean spirited people who like to "raid" forums. We have had a problem recently with a batch of nasty spammers, sometimes 5-8 of them here at once. To our credit, staff has taken care of them quickly.

If you think back a bit, we had one particular member who had set up over 9 accounts so he could act up then come back right away under another account. These kind of people really are hard to detect because a lot of people sign up and do not ever post.

I agree, CRF is set up to prevent bots & hamper spammers, but it is impossible to completely eliminate them without making CRF like Fort Knox.

Shaggy has moved the forum to a new host server recently, this morning I got a "DNS" (Denial of Service) message when I tried to log into CRF.

40 minutes later when I tried again I got in no problem.

I have let him know so hopefully he contacts his technicians and they sort this out.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

The oddest thing (for me) is the fact that I was logged in a couple days ago, I unplugged everything, packed up, drove 300+ miles, unloaded everything.

Then this morning, I unpacked my laptop, plugged in, opened this site...and was still logged in.

That never happens. Heck, I usually have to log back in if I so much as close my lap top.

Sounds to me you've got one of these in your laptop Vehicle.

Weird..I have found that regular clearing of my browser history/cookies has helped with performance on this site. It slows it down a bit initially, but I don't encounter near as many "freezes" and "unavailable" messages.

My biggest problem on this site continues to be the fact that too many new unread posts become read before I even get to check them... and I usually don't even go 24 hours without checking this forum. :uh:

Ditto. :uh: I did know even know that you had asked me another question about "ah, mater" until somebody told me. I don't know how to keep track of where I posted also. :uh:
