Aerosmith ‘Barely Speaking to Each Other’ According to Reports

Aerosmith2.jpg

After a tepid first week of sales of their new album ‘Music From Another Dimension,’ reports are surfacing that the members of Aerosmith are at odds once again. The new album — their first of new music in a decade — sold just 65K copies last week, ranking fifth overall on the Billboard album sales chart.

The New York Post quotes an unidentified source who says things are frosty between Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and company. “The band isn’t really talking,” the source says. “No dates on the current tour are sold out. Meanwhile, (Tyler attorney Dina) LaPolt is doing a reality-show pilot instead of focusing on Tyler’s career, and his career needs help.”

A band spokesman disputes the claims of trouble, saying “Aerosmith is doing great and on tour and on fire. Any claim to the contrary is absolutely false.”

A second source tells Page Six that Tyler is blaming his record label for the lackluster reception to ‘Music From Another Dimension,’ released on Election Day. Furthermore many wonder if the singer and fiance Erin Brady are having trouble, but the band contact says any whispers of a breakup are just rumor while reminding fans that “just as any couple goes through trials and tribulations in a relationship, Steven and Erin have asked for their privacy at this time.”

Aerosmith’s Global Warming Tour is in Austin, Texas tonight (Nov. 16) before coming to play Madison Square Garden on Tuesday (Nov. 20).

It's because the album is below par. See my review.

Meh, don't particularly give that much care to in band problems like this if it is true, I loved the album they put out from start to finish that is all I care about.

I'd forgotten they released it on election day, that is a bonehead decision by the label what on earth were they thinking..:nw:

As far as the album goes...if they had delivered another "Toys or Rocks" we wouldn't be reading anything about the band squabbles. They promised a return to roots kick ass album and didn't deliver one, to me that is the root of the problem.

Still haven't picked up a copy...not sure I will either.

^^You might be right Billy but that is just stoopid...:bonk:

America goes into a weird kind of state during presidential elections, even with the apathy in society there are still untold millions who are caught up in the moment and forget everything else.

But if the album was Killer, then it would have achieved the expectations that the band obviously feels they have not then Aerosmith would be happily touring and basking in the glow of success.

Perhaps over the next few weeks it will sell better, anything is possible after all.

I really like the new album a lot, there's maybe 3 or 4 tracks on it that didn't grab me from the start, and even they have grown on me, and it's around 70 minutes which is more than you get from most 'name' bands these days. Hitting the Billboard 200 at #5 on week 1 is actually an achievement for a 40 year old some would say 'dinosaur' rock band, though sales and charts are meaningless as an indication of quality, #3 in the chart and out-selling Aerosmith this week is the new Rod Stewart album of Christmas carols, some of which I heard by accident at a friend's house last weekend, and should have been released with a free complimentary sick-bag like the ones they hand out on aeroplanes during turbulence.
