I kinda expected a poll like this ;)

No ZZ Top are not hard rock. They are a southern rock, blues rock, rock band. But that doesn't mean they can't boogie in a hard way :)

Of course they are. Like all hard rock bands they tend to stray from the label at least a bit but yeah they are definitely hard rock.

I would call ZZ Top a Blues Rock band (except for maybe some of their 80s stuff) but as far as their 70s output & what they're doing now, it's the blues man... My opinion anyway.

I voted Yes, but I can see Magic's point on southern rock too. This band always confused me....really....

Well, to me most (not all) southern rock is hard rock. But no big deal.

Southern Rock, I don't even understand what qualifiles as such. Before I was on this site I just called ZZ Top Blues Rock/Hard Rock. Now I add Southern Rock to the fold.

Indeed....this is why I argue the point. ZZ Top is southern rock. Southern rock incorporates a lot of different styles including blues rock. Southern rock can also have a harder edge to the music, giving it a classification of hard rock, but with a more boogie rhythm to the music........

Voila! ZZ Top.

giving it a classification of hard rock - unless I am a complete dumbass, that means ZZ Top are Hard Rock.
