A kickass southern rock band from the 70's. Blackfoot is still perfoming today,even though only two of the original band members are still with Blackfoot, and they sound almost as good as the day they hit the music scene.

Blackfoot is the best hard rockin' southern band I have encountered. I saw them pack a concert in 1980 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. This was the first time I had heard them. Fantastic show, which confused me a bit, because they dressed in leathers, which gave me the impression they were playing metal or something. Boy was I shocked when they rocked it southern style

The best and most successful album is "Strikes" released in 1979. Stikes' highlight is the song "Train, Train", but also has some great songs like, "Baby Blue", "Wishing Well", "Left Turn on a Red Light", and "I got a Line on You". I wouldn't stop at "Strikes" because the next album "Tomcattin'" is also a gem!

Not my favorite southern band, but they have great songs for roadtrips, and Highway Song is well, I can't think of a better word than "epic" I hate that word but really nothing else Describes Highway Song, I tried to cover that in a band and we could never make it through it, it was just too long for them, then being my I always have to add 10 minute jams in the middle, then add a turnaround and jam for another 10 lol, so we got through like 15 minutes and could never finish it, and now I'm not in a band, soo.... and those dual guitar leads are beyond awesome

but Baby Blue is a fun one too, so I like more single songs by them than albums really

I like these guys, some no-nonsense southern boogie rock. I have 4 of their albums I think, I will have to check.

I'm a fan & love just about everything they released. I have everything up to Siogo on vinyl & have their Best of on CD.
I seen them twice. The first time was around '80 opening for Nugent & they blew Uncle Ted away that night. Nugent had at least 3 or 4 guitarists with him & the sound was awful.
The 2nd time was wild.It was 1985 & they were opening for Deep Purple. Blackfoot came onstage & played "Gimme Gimme Gimmie" & afterwards Ricky Medlocke yells out "Hello Everybody!". Then the familiar harmonica sounds of "Train Train" rang through the arena & the band launched into Train Train. I looked at my friends with a surprised "WTF" look.Train Train finishes & Medlocke yells out "Goodnight Everybody!" & the band played "Highway Song"

Tomcattin' is my favorite by them. I bet I listen to that album at least once a month. That album is extremely "real".

My real Grandpa Louie used to do the Foxes down in Missouri and Arkansas, and believe it or not, he had a beagle or two with the same names as Shorty's. I kid you not. That's just the way them old men sound and the names for the dogs like Ring/er or Tig short for Tiger are super common hound dog names down south. Get 'em, sick 'em!

I love the correlation that Ricky makes between fox hunting and chasing women. It's silly and sexist fer sure, but it is rock n roll nonetheless.

I saw that same Nugent/Black Foot tour. That's some years ago, and you're right, at that point Nugent wasn't all that great. He didn't have all the guitarists when I saw him in Detroit, but he had some guy playing a Gibson Ripper or Grabber bass with a pick. It sure as the heck wasn't Rob Grange.

HOWEVER, 5-10 years prior, it would have been the other way around. Nugent was a bad ass rock n roller in his day.

I may even go 2-3 years earlier it would've been the other way around. It's weird for me because I used to love Nugent(actually I still am a fan) & had all his albums. I was so psyched to go see him that night & for me I was pretty disappointed.He was playing stuff that was going to end up on his
'Intencities...' album. I wasn't about to give up on Nugent so I seen him a year or 2 later with Humble Pie opening & although he was better this time he still wasn't what I had hoped for. I gave him another chance on his 'Little Miss Dangerous' tour & the show was awesome.He was just how I had hoped for the other 2 times.I seen him a few more times after that & he was incredible especially when I seen him open for Kiss in the late 80's.

Sorry about going off track on this Blackfoot thread but I'll bounce back into it by agreeing with Starman on 'Tomcattin''.I love that album & that is one of my vinyl records that is always near my stereo."Warped", "Fox Chase", "Spending Cabbage", "Every Man should Know", & "Gimme Gimme Gimme" are all phenominal tunes."Gimme Gimme Gimme" is one of those tunes that always pumps me up. I really liked Marauder also & thought "Fly Away" should've done better as a single. The thing that I always liked about Blackfoot is the Shorty Medlocke intros & how the band just cranked out after the intos on "Train Train", "Fox Chase", & "Rattle Snake Rock & Roller".
