One of my favorite groups lately has been a folkish pop band named the Lumineers! In the same vein of hooky folkish pop as Of Monsters and Men who had to be influenced by Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes this group has a single that's become big and makes you want to shout "Hey!" or rather "Hey **"! It's a nice little gem that gets embedded into your head and a great compromise of laid back folk that can hook a wide audience! :grinthumb

Hey **

The self titled debut album out is:

The rest of the album is audience friendly as well but still has an intimate feel and a little hippy flair. I think the following is a pretty good showcase of the band! :)

Full Performance (Live on KEXP)

As for my personal favorites:

Flowers In Her Hair, Stubborn Love & Dead Sea

Check them out! :grinthumb

Yes I've heard the Hey ** tune and I like it. Very Mumford and Sons. In fact you could trick someone if you didn't tell them with that one, if they didn't know already.

Fleet Foxes too

Yes and No! The Lumineers are more of a chill band and Mumford and Sons is way more full sounding, brighter harmonies and energetic. The Lumineers make up what they lack in intensity with more modern sounding pop sensibilities, hooks and melodies. Fleet Foxes too me are way more progressive and complex in structure. Not sure how much Fleet Foxes you've listened to but I implore you too listen to more if you haven't. They are a lot like the Decemberist when it comes to modern folk. The closest I'd compare this group to is The Head and The Heart, Of Monsters and Men and Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeroes. Mumford definitely gave a huge rocket boost to all these divisions of folk though! :grinthumb

I should have said style of vocals...my bad...as there are differences to their musical approaches. :grinthumb

I need to catch up on all of these new music threads so I don't see much of a better place to start than with one of my favorite bands of the year. :D A lot of my faves off of their album have already been brought up but I have a real soft spot for this short little diddy. :)
