Agreed, but if you pay 50 bucks for a show, it better be a good show! It just seems pointless to go to something that sucks....Fun is Fun I'll give you that but people pay them good money for shows and entertainment....And As a solemn vow I take I will never own anything even slightly tied to Brittany Spears!!:banghead:

I rarely pay up to forty for anything myself but some people think that the lasers, fireworks, dancing, outfits, theatrics, etc. are the show and are happy to pay for it. I'd be more disappointed if a legitimate rock God like Billy Corgan was lip syncing or something but that's just me.

i've paid over $40 to see the Queens of the Stone Age on multiple occasions. no lasers, fireworks, dancing, outfits, or theatrics. it's the cost of an average rock show now (and great ones to boot). the average Britney Spears ticket is closer to $100 if not $200.

i also don't get why this is a 'hopeful' event. it's like someone said in another thread every decade and generation of music has had it's plastic airheads. she's not the first and definitely not the last. so why does it matter what people who'd buy into the image over the substance really think? or are the anti-pop fans the ones truly concerned about the superficiality of looking cool based on the music they listen to?

My opinion is that at least half the show should be live. When you're doing aerobics on stage, you can't expect the singer to sing live the entire show. They need their air for all the dancing that they do so I can understand that.

Doing it the whole show is pretty lame, though. Those people could just go home and put on their Britney CDs for that instead of paying big bucks for a show she wont even perform live singing in.

blasphemy!

Honestly, what shocks me about the whole situation is the way she spewed insults at her fans in Austrailia. They should have slapped her with a law suit. Shoot, Richard Gere got deported once for kissing a female on stage!

Sadly but true, though, this negative publicity will only boost her career. Lately Britney has taken on a "bad girl" image and this just helps that image.

Because it's a sign that some of those people may have developed some modicum of musical standards after all. And remember how quickly disco became passe with the mass market?

What's the point of the "aerobics" on her part though? Do you think Robert Plant or Mick Jagger would let their gymnastics interfere with their singing?

I've read no accounts of this. What did she say?

:wtf:

Re: Is there hope? Fans walk out of Britney Spears show!

Britney Spears is reportedly upset that 100-200 fans walked out of her show in Perth, Australia because she was lip synching throughout much/most of the program. Poor Britney is evidently stunned by the revelation that some fans in Australia actually want her to sing during live concerts and not just dance around. "Ignorant hicks. This is so not L.A. Don't the people here know I can't sing - let alone sing and dance at the same time? Why do people live here anyway? I thought Australia was just for kangaroos." she was reported to have said before her manager cut the power to her microphone and hustled her away.

Maybe there's still hope for pop music. I doubt it though. After all, these fans did buy tickets in the first place....

:D

You put what she said in you OP :gc:

You're comparing pop performances to rock performances?

:wtf:

Pop is much different. A lot of the performance has to do with dancing. Rockers don't really dance much, they just mostly sing. Pop stars do all the dancing. That's what a lot of the focus is on. Plus, a lot of pop fans are young. You can't expect a kid to be interested in watching someone pace while they sing. They want a big show, something that will keep their attention, something fun to look at.

Two different styles of music, two different styles of performances. It's easy to just walk back and forth on stage and sing for two hours than it is to actually dance for two hours, or at least most of those two hours, since they will likely be able to sit for a song or two, if it's a ballad.

It's just the style of music. Practically every pop star dances like crazy when they perform. The point is to put on a good show and keep people entertained.
