Re: Supertramp

I have the Very Best Of Supertramp on CD, though I haven't played it in yonks. The problem is some of their songs I like and some I don't cause I was listening to this album one day and just thought I was listening to one sad song after another. I've always liked "Take the Long Way Home" and "The Logical Song", "Give a Little Bit" and "It's Raining Again", and they all tend to me later songs, so perhaps I like later Supertramp more than early Supertramp.

Re: Supertramp

They do have a dark nature to their songs, but I like them. It's like Pink Floyd for me, I have to be in the right frame of mind to play Supertramp, but I love "Even In The Quietest Moments", I play that album more than the others.

CP/M, you should listen to their first two albums, they were much more progressive than their later work, but if you don't like them that much I understand.

I like a handful of songs from them, but not much more... give a little bit is an awesome song, and long way home is fun, I only like a few more so.. eh. there are worse bands out there

Re: Supertramp

I am glad that the old Gap commercials using "Give A Little Bit" by various artists is history. They almost ruined that song for me, lol.

My second favorite album and it is a very close second to Quietest, is "Crime of the Century". I have this album on a "Special Vinyl" release, and it is the Heaviest album I have ever picked up. I'll post a picture of it later.

Anyway if I was to pick one song that represents Supertramp at it's best it would be this one.

Re: Supertramp

They definitely had one of the best Sound Systems I have ever experienced, perfect balance, clarity the whole works, just like sitting at home listening on a great stereo, except with 20,000 of your friends.:D

My copy is the UHQR by MFSL, paid over $100.00 for it back in 1982, and I still have it.:D

I could listen to them, but I don't think I'll like them cause I know that quite a few songs from their Crime of The Century album - and they just don't seem to appeal to me. "Dreamer" used to have some appeal, though I guess I should never had listened to the lyrics! :(

Re: Supertramp

Supertramp made wonderful music. It's a shame the crap they produced is what made them famous.

"Dreamer", "Give a Little Bit" and "Breakfast in America" are their most famous songs and it's so plain. So popchart. Blegh.

No, give me the earlier works. Songs like "School", "Fools Overture", "Rudy"... That's the work
