I found a couple of Radio Station threads, though I felt if I posted in them I'd be off-topic. Anyway I thought it would be good for people to share any Digital or Online Radio Stations.

One of the interesting ones we've got down here is ABC Dig Music station. They play anything, old or new, perhaps more new than old, though I like it cause they Dig up music I've never heard before and it's enjoyable. Obviously they would play stuff other people would enjoy more, though it just seems to be a great way of finding newer songs which you can enjoy because it's not mainstream! Their Website is great as well so it lets you know what their playing! :)

I know nothing about any digital stations myself CP/M...but if you've found one that helps you check out bands you didn't know about that's a good thing.

I am tempted to hook up my old analog tuner again just to see what's broadcasting in my area...now that is off topic my old friend...:peek

:D

There are so many online podcasts and radio stations........

I do have one that I like, 3WK Classic Rock, which does play a lot of deeper cuts and live stuff. 3wk.com has 3 podcasts: classic rock, indie rock, and 80/90's rock.

Yeah it's unusual how Digital Radio has arrived and of course it's got it's Pros and Cons - that being it works well until you hit a black spot and you simply get silence. Unfortunately ABC Dig Music and all them other ABC digital stations are dead where we are, though I can use my Digital Set-Top Box on my telly to get ABC Dig Music, but it's just a bit of a nuisance I have to have everything switched on just to get it - as opposed to a radio!

The Station I used to find all that music I was digging up have gone Digital & Online as well. Magic1278 homepage they played a lot of old stuff, though are playing some newer stuff as well, more of it is rather a miss for me, but if you heard it back in 2000 and travelled to now from that point in time, a lot of the music has changed, it used to be more Lounge based with some Pop & Folk music from the 60s/70s & a bit of Country. The main change as being the exit of them early Lounge singers, they only play them on Sunday in the evenings, where's it used to be throughout the day!

The Online player for:
Magic 1278 - Unfortunately the sound quality isn't quite upto the standard of them Rock Stations. I guess their looking for more Online Listeners.

As far as Digital Radio goes....in the US most of what you find is Digital Satellite Radio stations......

Like Sirius and XM, which has now become Sirius XM. You have to pay for these, though.

^^Those syndicated behemoths have destroyed the once glorious small stations all across the US. I saw a documentary on PBS about it and it was tragic.

But there are a few renegade stations left, and the good internet ones as well so all is not completely lost yet.

Indeed, LG. The digital station era was taken over and dominated by the auto industry. You can still find free digital stations, but they are limited by their bandwidth and they only have the power to broadcast to a small local audience......

I personally don't know of any digital stations locally, they are all still FM stations.

As far as internet radio goes I've only used Pandora, which lets you skip through songs but there is a limit. Sooty has recommended Spotify which he says allows you to listen to entire albums and gives you more choice. I don't know if I'd want to pay for any radio stations.

The beauty with those stations which are Online you can simply run them in another tab in your web browser. At the moment I've got ABC Dig Music Player in another tab with Peter Gabriel singing Sledgehammer playing all for free! :D Mad Love - Bellies Will Ring coming up! :)

Well, you can probably guess what I think!!

For me, broadcasting out of Wiltshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, hands down the best 24/7 online 'classic rock' radio is...

Though there are of course others, so this is a nice thread to keep an eye on and see what else comes up.
