Some of the most relaxing, beautiful soothing melodies in music are ones that others would find depressing or as the thread theme deals in, melancholy. As a listener you either pull something positive or cathartic out of them and they aid your spirits or they just sound depressing and gloomy to you and pull you down. I'm the former and this thread is for my favorite melodies of a melancholy nature. Feel free to contribute.

The whole Brand New "The Devil and God Are Raging Against Me" album has a melancholy vibe but I love the whole struggle and questions of faith it deals with and the dark music with the blast of cathartic guitar and vocals contained. One of my favorite albums ever period! My friend and I listened to it on the dreary, snowy ride home!
