Re: The Yes Thread

Tell you what Joe I think I'm gonna go along to Sheffield in the Autumn and catch the new Yes line up .. I reckon an open mind is the key.

The album is scheduled for release this summer Sox. I'm not sure what type of style they will release. All I'm is saying is that I hope isn't it the prog/pop formula they released from most of the '90's. During the '90's I didn't have a computer to preview and listen to thier albums and decide if I was going to purchase them or not. Now, I have that luxury. If I did have that luxury back then I wouldn't of purchased three of thier albums. That's a total of about $60 Canadian and I could of purchased other CDs or bought some fishing gear instead.:grinthumb

Yeah, I believe the retro David Cassidy/Partidge Family look is back in!

He has a great voice, but I'm worried that the guy seems to wear nothing else, if you Google his image, every shot is the bright orange and white lace-up tea-cloth effect shirt.

I think Jon Anderson's attire is attributed to his syncretism beliefs. I could be wrong.

Many musicians "back in the day" wore that similar style of clothing.

I hope Benoit has a multiple number of those shirts as it would be a hassle to wash one after every concert being on the road.

I think Going for the One is probably my favourite Yes album, I love that record, it's beautiful, especially this song...

That's a fair comment Joe I know I've bought a few duds in my time that wouldn't be taking up space now if I had given them a once over first .. :grinthumb

YES live In Chile 1994

I picked this up today to see if it was as bad as the show I saw during the same tour. I can say with much certainty that it is brutal.

Jon Anderson sounds like crap. Tony Kaye is useless and Trevor Rabin is one of the worst live guitarists I've ever seen. Chris Squire and Alan White are ok, but hardly awe inspiring.

I wonder if they were all on drugs during this period. Kinda reminds me of how Chicago sounded live in the 70's....real bad.

The cover looks good RS(I added that for you ;)), but it's too bad you think the concert itself is so bad. When I saw Yes on the Tormato/Going For the One tour they were fantastic, of course that was the original line-up with the exception of White being on drums instead of Bruford.

Any time I've seen them with the classic lineup, they were great. I don't know what it is about Rabin and Kaye that bring out the worst in them.

I guess that puts me in that tiny demographic that prefers the newer school Yes... :peek

Don't get me wrong, the original line up rocks and I like some of their earlier stuff. I just happen to like Rabin/Kaye era Yes more. I love the album 90125. Maybe it's because I'm more familiar with 80s era Yes that makes me who I am as far as a fan.
