Clutch. They have developed a devoted worldwide audience in the present day, but it has taken them 20 solid years of touring. When they started out in the early 90s and throughout the rest of that decade, they were truly only known by those "in the know".

I just discovered Train - from my hometown San Francisco, formed in 1993. Here is "Drops of Jupiter"

They may have been formed in the early 90's, but in terms of execution, "Red Dawn" are picture perfect 80s melodic hard rock. Formed by several members of Rainbow (David Rosenthal, Chuck Burgi, Greg Smith), a singer who interestingly enough, sounds like a cross between former Rainbow frontmen Graham Bonnet and Joe Lynn Turner, and some guitar wizard I've never heard of, they sadly only released one album, 1992's Never Surrender. If these guys had appeared a few years earlier, I don't doubt for a second they would have been huge.

I don't know how well known or not these guys are, but my neighbor introduced me to them a few days ago, and I thought it sounded pretty sick.

I only ever heard of these guys when they toured with Powderfinger for the "Across the Great Divide" tour in Australia. They were brilliant to hear live! Here is another song you might like of theirs called Straight Lines:

Growing up in the 90's listening to Sixpence None The Richer, Nirvana, Bonnie Tyler and more. Oh I do miss this times. :)
