Birmingham was a hot spot being at the heart of the black country with all the steel works and stuff I reckon music was a form of escape for many and the talent shone through. From a more idyllic backdrop guitar slingers Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton all from Surrey.

Around the mid sixties Den Haag had loads of great bands. Amongst them were Golden Earing, The Motions, Sandy Coast and Q65. Now there is Kane and Di-Rect.

There were a lot of bands that originated from Seattle back in the 90's, but most specifically, before the 90's you had the Grunge era that Seattle brought into the world. As for bands in any era, were talkin Pink Floyd, Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Tad, Soundgarden, and a lot more. Seattle is generally based around it's music, and very much into it's underground scene, specifically the hip hop scene. It's very low key, and a lot of great hip hop artists come from here.

It's a great city for music.

Let's not forget that, while he got his break in England alongside Cream and the Who, Jimi Hendrix was a Seattle boy as well.

True indeed. Along with many others. Hendrix is and always will be fairly big around here. Lots of record stores and buildings showing some sort of commemoration of him.

I think the late Kieth Relf , Yardbirds' lead vocalist and harmonica player ,was also from Surrey
