I'm not surprised to see Portnoy join up with other metal musicians as he was IMO the real metalhead of Dream Theater. I wonder if this a sign of things to come. I was hoping Portnoy would team up Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree in collaboration with some other prog metal musicians to release an album(?).

Thanx P&C for the post.:grinthumb

I agree. Portnoy is a phenomenal drummer, and really knows his stuff. Not to belittle the other members. Petrucci is a fantastic guitarist, Rudess is a great pianist, LaBrie with his vocals and Myung on the bass. I'm hoping it's a sign of some sort. Even if Portnoy goes into a band that i've never heard, I will still listen to the band mainly because I have a lot of respect for Portnoy.

And the other musicians involved in this are just as great. I was happy to see Megadeth's bassist mentioned in this.

I'm looking forward to DT's new album which is suppossed to be released sometime this spring(?). I read somewhere that the band found a drummer but the name hasn't been released by the band. It will interesting to see what direction DT will go without Portnoy.

That's what I heard as well. I'm still expecting a pretty good sound from them even without Portnoy. Knowing them, they probably chose a top notch drummer to take his place. I hope they do some of the kind of stuff they did in Images and Words, that was a fantastic album.

It'll be a great album though, i've never really been disappointed with DT's releases.

I'm with Joe I was hoping another Transatlantic album was forthcoming, and a collaboration with Steve Wilson would be great.

I am also looking forward to the next DT album, there is still a lot of talent left in the band.
