What are some anti-war, pro-peace songs you know of? Among the many things I love in this world, protest of war is one of the most important. Let's take a break from the asinine senselessness of war, and reminisce of the brave, incredible individuals who have spoken out against it.

I'll begin.

Country Joe McDonald - "Feel Like I'm Fixing to Die"

also, a fair warning: no terrorists allowed - this isn't a thread for DRAMA. This is a thread for peace.

I'm not going to start any 'drama', but I have to say that a comment like this...

... certainly invites the opportunity for plenty of drama.

Good thing we don't have a political subforum anymore. As much as I didn't like it, stuff like this would be very easy to comment on.

Couple of obvious ones:

(I have a feeling both of these artists may feature quite prominently in this thread)

also one which I find which really highlights the realities of war, a true Aussie classic.

It's all relative, bro.

This thread is peace-oriented, therefore the "comments" in the OP are completely relevant.

Let's have some protest songs.

Great thread lady:grinthumb

I've been thinking for sometime now to do exactly the same thing. Heres a few of my favs:

Any track from Jefferson's Airplane's Volunteers(1969):

From Thank Christ For The Bomb(1970) by the Groundhogs. The title track:

2+2=? from the Bob Seger System from the album Ramblin' Gamblin' Man(1968):

From one of the greatest psychedelic albums IMO. Tomorrow's s/t debut from 1968 featuring Steve Howe on guitar:

And my fav anti-war/protest song: Signed D.C. from Love's s/t album(1966). I prefer the original version:

Thinking anti-war songs these two sprung immediately to mind:

Metallica - One

Kate Bush - Army Dreamers

how exactly is imagine a protest song?

It's not necessarily a "protest song" but it's pro-peace. It's very much a song about worldwide unity.

First instrumental protest song.

Awww man, this song is wicked-groovy. :D

One of the greats of the 60s, Phil Ochs, wrote this tune (but I couldn't find his version on youtube).

And here's his song, "I Ain't Marchin' Anymore".

After years of being harassed/needlessly targeted by the government, and dealing with depression, Phil Ochs committed suicide before the end of the 70s. Yet another casualty.
