^Clapton screwed, then married George's wife--and they were best friends!^

BUT George, the oh so enlightened and perfect one, supposedly banged Maureen Starkey, Ringo's wife (his ****ing band-mate's wife!).

I dig George and all, but George is no saint.

Well he did according to Patti Boyd 's Bio..and I would tend to think there was ALOT of swapping back then..George let his 'other' brain think ..lol

Nope George was a sweet man but he wasn't perfect...

Eric and George were bestfriends..Patti and George weren't getting on with each other and Eric was mad about her...things happened..they didn't last either..(clapton and patti) Eric was a horndawg ..I think in the music world .especially in the 60's -70's there was alot of free love going round :heheh:

Ringo and Maureen were BOTH cheating on each other alot..she refused a divorce for years and finally consented after Ringo was dating actress/model Nancy Allen in the open ...

so just saying yep..EVERYONE was screwing everyones spouse..lol

somehow eric, ringo and george kept their friendship..George was good friends with Patti too ..he had the ability to love people beyond issues which I DO think is pretty amazing...Good for him

ps Hi Tom :)

Exactly, George is NOT any sort of saint. And imho, there's nothing at all wrong about mentioning Clapton in a Harrison thread. The two were best friends and Eric singing a tribute song is no different than anyone else singing a tribute song aimed at George.

Eric Clapton doesn't sing in Never Without You. He plays guitar and even has a solo.

I think you should take into account that a lot of the "wife swapping" etc., was part of the late 60's early 70's sexual revolution, the "Free Love" period. Add into that everyone was experimenting with drugs as well, given all the idle time and money they were making and you have a recipe for what happened. Not that I condone breaking your vows, but if the 'Players' In question were okay with it who am I to judge?

I don't have any particular musician on a pedestal, they all have flaws like the rest of us. But I still feel sad when we lose one of the people I grew up with and added joy to my life, in this case George Harrison.

:cheers2Thanks LG...

I assume folks realize that drugs were VERY prominet in these musicians social circles. Drugs Sex and Rock And Roll..the temptation were many, fueled by vast wealth and alot of immature sexuality..

I don't condone breaking vows either but times were different and celebrity marriages seem to have different morals anyway imo:tongue:

All parties have forgiven each other and moved on..are settled in happy relationships ..well not sure about Patti Boyd but she is friends with both Olivia Harrison, Barbra Bach , and the late Linda McCartney, and Stella McCartney, Cynthia Lennon ..involved in a substance abuse charity with them and several other charities as well..they are friendly

when Maureen Starkey died of cancer a few years prior to George, Ringo was at her side..they remained dear friends..there was no ill feelings . In fact, Ringo morned her quite along time...they just didn't belong married to each other..

Ringo , Eric Clapton , and George ALL remarried and were/ are in long term relationships which not surprised to note happened after ALL of them quit drugs ...

Point being THEY ALL MOVE ON ...too bad fans can't ?

I never thought ANY celeb should be made a martyr ..they are human being ..they make the same mistakes we all do ..because they are human beings

I miss all the great stuff George Harrison gave us..his music ,his humor. and his beautiful soul...

:heheh:Well she does get along with The McCartney's a bit but ..I'm not sure..I noticed she's not so involved ..as you have Tom :)

I've been trying to see if she was involved but she really not the 'type' of wife the others were...

she likes to do more things on her own as we know ..:D

she does involve herself with charities but is more anonymous about her philanthropy.

Yoko bought John's childhood home from private buyers and turn it over free of charge to The National Trust..who in turn turned Mendips into a historical
home/museum.

She did this all without notice..it was revealed by a real estate broker...

But no she's not really coffee clicking with the others ...

Actually upon , researching...

I've found that Yoko has IN FACT been involved in many things with the other wives...

here's one :

Olivia has also helped to several charity causes. In 1989, after the deprivation of Romania's orphanages, she traveled there together with other influent characters, like Elton John, to see what she could do. It was also in this ocassion when she and George tried to adopt a child, but were stopped by the Romanian goverment.[citation needed]

After this, she got the support of the other Beatles' wives: Linda McCartney, Barbara Bach and Yoko Ono, together with Elton John and British public to create The Romanian Angel Appeal. They got 1 million pounds for the Nobody's Child account.

Form Olivia Harrison 11/29/10 Dark Horse website:

Chris Carter, host of "Chris Carter's 'Breakfast With the Beatles," got a message from Olivia Harrison for the anniversary of George Harrison's passing. It read,

Thank you Chris and each one of you for remembering George today. The love we feel for him grows and grows.

I think of George and a million wonderful things flood my mind and heart. And a million things in the world remind me of him, from a leaf blowing across the sky to hum of a guitar string.
God bless us all.

Send your warm loving thoughts to all the people in the spiritual sky and your kind actions to the people here in the material world, especially those in need.

Love from Olivia and Dhani

^^That is an interesting bit of news Astrid, just goes to show that people that hate Yoko for whatever reason are not in full possession of the facts.

I was not a fan of her music contributions to John's various projects, but I never held her solely responsible for the break up of the Beatles either.
