Here are two more that chipped in:

I've been dropping a lot of famous names in my posts today, but I swear all my stories are true...

A friend of mine used to live right next door to Kate Pierson of the B-52s. I was visiting him one day and parked out on the street...and there was Kate Pierson right there at her mailbox. She was bent over though, looked like she was pulling up some weeds or something. She was covered in dirt, and all I could really see of her was her rear end and her hair. I didn't say anything to her, although I wanted to (I'm a big fan, seen the B-52s a couple of times). It just didn't seem like a good time, and I thought it would've been a little rude of me.

Now I wish I had said hi though, that was the only chance I ever got.

Stone the Crows from Scotland featuring Maggie Bell which was in the same context as Janis Joplin. They released 4 lp's from '70-'72 containing a blues/soul/rock sound. Maggie Bell did go onto a solo career.
