Maybe I'll unload my 8-Tracks on Ebay afterall. :heheh:

"Unload"? I would think you'd treasure both the music of your youth and artifacts from your youth yet you're using a word that implies that all that stuff is worth less than just a quick buck to you. If I were in your position, I'd be looking to add to my 8-tracks.

Here's a website for fans of 8-track:

Eight Track Heaven

And this is a movie that was made back in the 1990's about 8-track collectors:

Do you mean you have a Nakamichi Dragon cassette deck like this one?

I'm both fascinated and repelled by all the switches. How do you find them?

One of our friends, Rusty, would then play "anti gravity man" and roll himself (over the tops of everyones heads) to the front of the car, into the front seat when we stopped at a light.

Taking off at at the green light he'd scream, "Whoah Anti Gravity Maaaa-aaaa-nnnnn" and end up in the back bed of the wagon (over everyones heads again) pressed up against the back window screaming. :lmao:

Shoudn't that have customarily been done with a girl up there so that the guys could all grope her as she rolled over their heads?

:D

This Craig 8-track player/recorder looks very basic by comparison. That in retrospect may have been part of the appeal of 8-track.

Yeah, I had the Pink Floyd Animals 8-track, plus...

Physical Graffiti - Led Zeppelin
Rising - Rainbow
Trilogy - Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Bridge of Sighs - Robin Trower
Venus & Mars - Paul McCartney & Wings
Greatest Hits (Quad) - Chicago
War Child - Jethro Tull

And a lot of others I can't remenber and a few home-made tapes.

Whenever I made my own compilation tapes, I spent hours trying to fit songs within each of the four programs so it wouldn't switch over in the middle of a song. It was trying process...

I had a Realistic 8-track home recorder

I used to have my car 8-track player under the driver's seat of my '68 Malibu. Then it got ripped off. When I bought my orange Datsun truck with a camper shell and shag carpeting, I had my new 8-track player properly installed in the dashboard.

My first cassette deck was an under-the-dashboard Muntz and it and my case of cassettes got ripped off after I moved to Toronto. I chalked it down to a lesson in big city living. My second cassette deck was an in-dash Craig Powerplay. An opportunistic punk took my CCM Super Tacks skates and my second case of cassettes when I carelessly left my car door unlocked on a residential street back in London, but I didn't lose the deck.

That is one fine looking beast Hep, I would take that over any 8 Track player.

I almost bought an Akai deck on e-bay a couple of years ago, the one with the Crystal head design, they are indestructible put a new belt in and some rollers and it would last another twenty years. I'll see if I can find a picture and post it in the Stereo thread.

I was never a big Craig fan, but I have to say they made good 8 Track players for car stereo systems, they would have been my choice back in the 70's.
