KISS ~ Hotter Than Hell
KISS ~ Dressed To Kill
Thin Lizzy ~ Jailbreak
Aerosmith ~ Get Your Wings
Godspell ~ Original Cast recording
Steve Miller ~ Fly Like An Eagle
Don McLean ~American Pie
Emerson Lake And Palmer ~ Trilogy
Emerson Lake And Palmer ~ S/T

Yes...coool thread!

Aerosmith ~ Get Your Wings
That reminds me that my sister also had Aerosmith's Toys In The Attic which I played A LOT!

If there was one thing that was cool about 8-Tracks, it was being able to listen to two or three great songs on one particular track over and over an over again. And I remember doing that a lot with Toys In The Attic. And track one on BTO's Not Fragile.

On the downside, I never did like how they would fade one song out of a track and fade it back in on the next track because of time constraints. But I spose ya gotta take the bad with the good.

I never had one. My next door neighbour had a combination Phillips cassette deck/radio as early as 1967(?) and after reading up on the subject I was convinced of the superiority of the easy to record and more compact cassette format very early in the game. As a result I got a Muntz cassette deck and a pair of Pioneer 6 x 9 speakers for my 1973 Dodge Charger from Mad Man Muntz within a few months of getting the car despite the fact that the cassette deck was noticeably more expensive than even Muntz's best 8-track player. I also bought a Phillips cassette deck to hook onto my Sansui amp to record LPs onto cassette for my car.

But because I never had any 8-tracks, I want an 8-track player now to hook up to the second sound system in the bedroom. I was considering buying this completely refurbished Pioneer 8-track player/recorder for $350 but it just sold:

I remember listening to these 8 Tracks in my brother's '68 Mustang and an old station wagaon with 8 speakers in it. It used to be called the ''party wagon''. My brother and all our friends used to go crusin' around in it, and even brought it to a few concerts.

Good times and great music.

When I started reading about the old station wagon I was sure you were gonna call it the "*******' wagin'".....

I can remember cruising in my freinds' mom's wagon, it had wood panel sides, and we would all pile in and do chinese fire drills.....

indeed good times....lol.

I used to record my own, I remember people couldn't believe that the tapes didn't have that long pause within songs between track changes.

My very first band was made up of a gang of guys, all from the neighborhood. Man we'd go crusin' in our friend Bob's green station wagon...EVERYWHERE.

We called it the green ****mobile :oyea:

One of our friends, Rusty, would then play "anti gravity man" and roll himself (over the tops of everyones heads) to the front of the car, into the front seat when we stopped at a light.

Taking off at at the green light he'd scream, "Whoah Anti Gravity Maaaa-aaaa-nnnnn" and end up in the back bed of the wagon (over everyones heads again) pressed up against the back window screaming. :lmao:

Yes..and it had an 8 Track player in it I believe. :grinthumb

You made your own 8 tracks??!!! That's awesome. I never knew there were recordable blanks.

as the tracks would change during recording, they'd make a funky cuplunk, but in the end would always turn out with ok sound

That sounds awesome. The closest thing I get to that is when me and my friends do the occasional Chinese fire drill.
