You MacGyvered it? :heheh:

I remember finding an old box of 8 tracks in our basement once. The ones I remember are "Fool For The City" by Foghat, "Escape" by Journey, and the soundtrack to "Dazed and Confused".

Of course though the 8 track was obsolete before my day though. ;)

MacGyvered it! :roflmao:

I found my box of them the other day, and it was kinda cool to look at those bulky things. No wonder the consoles in cars back in the day were like another seat, you had to have some place to put those 8 tracks!

:heheh:

I bought 8-Tracks from 74-76, when I then began buying records after I bought a real stereo for my room when I started working that summer.

The 8-Tracks I remember having for sure were:

Chicago - VI, VII, VIII
Bad Company - Bad Co., Straight Shooter
Bachman-Turner Overdrive - BTO I, BTO II, Not Fragile, Four Wheel Drive, Head On
Beatles - Abbey Road
The Who - Who's Next
Peter Frampton - Frampton Comes Alive

My sister had Cat Stevens' Tea For The Tillerman, Loggins & Messina's Full Sail, Led Zeppelin III and James Taylor's Greatest Hits which I listened to, too.

I would also listen to my dad's Johnny Cash's Folson Prison 8-Track, and my mom's Mason Williams' Phonograph Record and Neil Diamond 8-Tracks. :heheh:

The 8-Track tape player is long gone, but I still have the tapes - probably because it's never snowed here. :D

I bought 8 tracks from 77-80, for the car. Then I switched to cassettes. I loved the cassette era, you could easily record your own stuff, which made it really nice, so I bought albums for home, and recorded them on cassette :D

I think cassettes were still kind of relevant when I was like....6. Then I guess CD's really took off so they went out the window.

Yeah, same here. I bought a Teac cassette tape deck in '79 for the same reason - to record homemade tapes from records for the car. Those days of innocence seems like such a lifetime ago. :wa

Yes it does seem like a long time ago. I have alot of memories wrapped up in those 8 tracks, though.

My first time drinking and driving, my first kiss, my first time doing a lot of things I wasn't suppose to be doing :D

I personally didn't own any, but my older brother had...

Aerosmith - Rocks
Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Not Fragile
Led Zeppelin II & IV
Grateful Dead - Skeletons From The Closet
Grateful Dead - Workingman's Dead
John Winter And...Live
Foghat - Stone Blue
Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Live Rust
Black Sabbath - We Sold Our Soul For Rock N' Roll
The Outlaws - Hurry Sundown
George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced
Steppenwolf - Gold
Doobie Brothers - The Captain And Me
Hot Tuna - The Phosphorescent Rat
Frank Zappa - Bongo Fury
Marshall Tucker Band - Greatest Hits
Charlie Daniels Band - Million Mile Reflection
Kansas - Point of Know Return
Santana - Moonflower
Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever
Steely Dan - Aja
Steve Miller Band - Fly Like an Eagle
The Who - Who Are You
Traffic - The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
Deep Purple - When We Rock, We Rock, And When We Roll, We Roll

We mostly owned albums. I remember listening to these 8 Tracks in my brother's '68 Mustang and an old station wagaon with 8 speakers in it. It used to be called the ''party wagon''. My brother and all our friends used to go crusin' around in it, and even brought it to a few concerts.

Good times and great music.

Magic - cool thread topic! :grinthumb

:cheers2
