My playlist of the week is one compiled from Billy Squier albums. Forty nine of his songs including some live recordings that make up a three hour and forty five minute playlist. It’s a pretty thorough and extensive playlist that I listen to often but this past week he as a musical artist came into a discussion between me and a friend so I had listened to the playlist a few times last week and earlier today as I vacuumed carpets.
I remember the Piper debut getting good reviews and I picked up the follow up 'Can't Wait' on cassette. I would play it for friends while driving around but I was about the only person that liked it! Fast forward 30 years, the two albums were re-released on CD as a two for one on American Beat Records. I passed on buying and it and 'poof'...it was gone. The release was discontinued and the prices were out of this world on ebay! I just checked at Amazon and the asking price for new is $204 and used for $134!
I was pretty happy when this stuff became available on Spotify. I'm listening to "Can't Wait" and I still enjoy the title track along with "Now Ain't The Time", "Bad Boy" and I guess "Drop By And Stay". I prefer the power pop stuff over the budding guitar hero material.
