A little musaky, poppy, but I still like some of it. I saw Weisberg at his peak and it was a pretty amazing show... very talented guy.

Wish I could say the weather is perfect for a
early November fire, but nope, not yet.
But anyway this is a good record, remembering
that it was a mid 70's hippie's 'dream purchase.'

"Who are you guys?"
"We're just... the band."

Many bands are influenced by the one, the only, the Band. It was a delight to see someone post an album by them once more. I will be listening to them later on today after my queue has played through. Kudos to you, Mr. Deerwan. :cheers2

Cry of Love blew me away when it was released, a solid set of songs with an ear for a new stage of development. If you don't already have it, among a vast re-release of his catalog remastered and done fairly well, were two 'goodies'.

One was Blues-awesome compilation on a single disc, the other, First Rays of the New Rising Sun, seemingly put together to get a feel for what an album full of new (some from Cry...) material in the spirit of Cry of Love would have been. It is pretty excellent if you don't have it and can find a copy. Good Listening...

Yeah I've got most of the posthumous released cds of Jimi's. I see that ARE YOU EXPERIENCED the family run company keeping Jimi's music alive in the 21st century re-released both the CRY OF LOVE & RAINBOW BRIDGE albums on individual cds maybe a year ago now (in the UK at least) well personally I would also like to see WAR HEROE'S re-released as well mainly as I actually liked the old WAR HEROE'S vinyl album and it's tracks that it contained although I know most of the tracks are available spread over several different albums/cds but it would be nice just to have those tracks back together again on the one album.

Cool Cadleson, I do love the BAND. I recently
(finally) got the Bob Dylan and the Band: The Complete Basement Tapes Boot Vol 11, a
six disc set of almost 140 songs laid down
the way they were recorded in '67. I've got
the book based on the tapes and the state
of the Amercican landscape, culturally and everything else, during that time... a great
read and a gem.

The CRY OF LOVE album (3 above) originally released in early 1971 about 5-6 months after Jimi's death is actually one of my favourite Hendrix albums. Apart from it containing a rather good set of songs of which all of them are my favourite Hendrix songs such as Freedom, Night Bird Flying, Easy Rider, Drifting, My Friend, Straight Ahead, Astro Man, Angel, In From The Storm & Belly Button Window the album also gave a possible indication of the direction of travel of what mite have been if Jimi had lived into the early 1970s?.

Gotta dig Astro Man :)
