Rock Lounge's Listening thread, always the knowledge giver, has been on
fire lately, with all sorts of great spins 2 numerous to name, some I'm
more familiar with than others, but it's good to see.
Kudos to those of magnificent tastes and borne of huge generous ears.
Now playing a pretty cool twofer by Mallard, basically Beefheart's mid 70's
Magic Band. The music is dusty polyrhythmic country blues played in a
rather complex fashion. The angular guitar lines are flushed with torture
and spiced w/ world weary vocals and great ensemble playing. The second
lp, Climate, plots a jazzier direction and really takes off, but both long players
are peppered with jammy inventive turns.... recommended to Captain fans
or those that like their fusion country blues hot.
