Today's work playlist was Bastille-Wild World, M83-Junk and the Life Is Strange SDTRK (opened for the first time). I knew I loved the M83 album already. It's a great ode to 70's Dance, Funk & R&B but can be an odd thing to walk into if you walk into it mid album with the slower material which I love. The worst would be Moon Crystal which sounds like a corny sitcom melody. LOL I keep shifting favorites on that album but Laser Gun stood out the most today. Just a fun, quirky vibe that keeps with the rest of the album but Pops out the most with the spunky chorus.

The biggest surprise was the Bastille album. It was a universally liked album by anyone that was the least curious about what was playing. Some knew the voice likely from the first album but I think this album got passed over too easily. I think for me it was the wealth of songs. I have the Deluxe version with 19 tracks so I listened when I got it but it was a lot of music to absorb even though I liked what I heard initially. Today I got to give it multiple playthroughs and absorb what I was hearing. There's so many cool layers and sounds here. Some cool guitar licks here, some really cool horns here, etc. It's an album that needs time and I'm glad I got more of that.

The third was a soundtrack to a game I like which is kind a Garden State indie vibe. You here the songs while playing the game so it wasn't necessarily my first listen but it was the first time I even opened the album. It was pleasant enough.

This came on autoplay on youtube after I listened to a live Bastille track. No matter how many times I listen to it I still love it. I don't know if it's original or unique but I love the energy. The music feels influenced more by Pop Rock like Florence and the Machine than anything. I feel like the whole awkward blend of the brooding verses with the Pop Dance vibe makes it unique. I'll be getting the album when it comes out for sure.

While we're on the subject of Pop stars the new Lana Del Rey is my favorite track of hers since her debut. The melody is inescapable. We need more female vocalists that do the crooning type vocal. Hers is mesmerizing!

Was a Ryan Adams night at work. Played the T Swizzle cover album 1989 (playing now as well) and the newest one, Prisoner. Was going to make it a triple bill with the 2014 S/T but couldn't find it in time. I've found it now so I'll be remedying that. I feel Ryan Adams kicked into a new phase starting in 2014 and it's great. How brilliant is it that an album that could've been a novelty cover album is just as sincere and beautiful as it was when it first came out? How great is it that his newest album is as appreciated as anything he's ever done? Love the guy! :)
