Re: Daily, Nightly and Ever So Rightly II *Chat Thread*

Spent a couple of hours this morning with an old friend I have know most of my life. She will be 100 years old next month. She still lives in her own home and is as bright as a button. She made me a cup of tea and we ate cookies she had made. We may be 76 years apart in age but I just don't see that. She keeps up with all the latest current affairs and is just a pleasure to spend time with.

I have learned a lot from time spent with the elderly too Sunny. I used to volunteer at an "Alzheimer's Daycare" every Wednesday. Families of Alzheimer's patients would drop their loved ones off for the day to get their errands and things done. We would play games with them and prepare their lunches and just keep them company. I loved the people there, and loved hearing their stories even though often times they were told to me every week because they couldn't remember the previous week. There was the sweetest old lady who had spent a lot of time in Hawaii in the 50s who would wear a Hawaiian dress every single week and bring things to show us. You'd be surprised how many of them remember you, though they can't really recall details from a week ago their memories from 40, 50 years ago were so vivid. We had originally gone as part of a school thing, but my best friend and I continued to volunteer even after the program was over well into the summer. I had to quit once I started college and it conflicted with my school schedule :uh:

^^^ Yes Jen, I have a lot of time for elderly folk. Always enjoy listening to their stories too.

Worked the Chris Daughtry concert tonight. Tired as hell. Tomorrow going to a family friend's place to help out with setting up for David Johansen's show as well as getting some free food and alcohol out of it.

Looking forward to resting Monday.
