Here is my Jim Steinman story. Back certainly before I had a home computer and Internet, a roller rink owner gave me a few reel to reel tapes he used during skate sessions. “Rock And Roll Dreams” was a song on a tape and I had never heard it before but like it instantly. Eventually I go to the big city used record store I frequented and asked if they could help me identify this song, and I start singing a little of the chorus and bits of the song. One guy says “I don’t recognize it. Maybe a Queen song or sounds like Meatloaf.” So close and yet so far.
Of course I eventually got information some time later, transferred some of that tape to cassettes and cdr and even found a licensed compilation cd with the song and also a vinyl copy of Bad For Good.
These are the quests we follow when collecting and appreciating music.
