Hey Leslie,I heard this Neil Young cd album and talk about a change of musical style??![]()
I heard Neil Young say that all his music is recorded initially for himself.
If other people also like it, then that is a bonus.
Well, Neil, all my fave artists record their material 'organically '
Music should be an authentic extension of who you are.
I can spot a fake/phony musician or band a 'country ' mile away.
Record Companies manufacture artists to play a certain type of music that suits the market.
Crap like One Direction and all those **** Boy bands and Girly Groups like Destiny's Child.
I saw Neil Young & Crazy Horse at The Sydney Entertainment Centre in 1985 & they blew the back wall & roof of the building.
My sweet girlfriend had never seen or heard anything so loud & heavy.
The first half of the gig before intermission was just Neil and his acoustic Guitar, which was great and beautiful, though it nearly lulled us to sleep, literally, we were dozing off.
I've seen Suzi Quatro, The Queen of Rock n Roll, play many, many times, I love her.
On one occasion she & her Band started playing a great heavy riff and I thought
" This isn't one of her songs "
I freaked out when I realised it was " Keep on Rockin' in the Free World "
Suzi and her Band ploughed into it, their rendition went for over 10 minutes.
The crowd went berzerk.
"Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" is an anti-capitalist, anti-poverty,
anti-homelessness song. ( "People sleeping in their shoes" )
It's a sarcastic & satirical lyric about having a great time in the 1st World whilst people suffer in the 3rd World.
According to Neil and he is correct, there is a 3rd World within the 1st World.
Have a great time in your leafy suburban lifestyle, whilst a Mother abandons her baby so she can get a hit of ******, near a garbage bin under a street light.
