An all time 'CLASSIC ALBUM' by Andy Powell, Martin Turner, Steve Upton & Ted Turner known collectively as WISHBONE ASH.
50 years old this year.
I'm off to see them in - I think - October, when they will play it through from start to finish!
Not seen them since the mid-70s (Reading Festival)

Machine Head probably is (or was) their BEST recorded studio album followed closely by Burn although a lot of fan's rate In Rock as well. According to Ritchie Blackmore hardly any outtakes exist from the Machine Head sessions and all what was recorded ended up on the album except When A Blind Man Cries which Ritchie didn't apparently like according to Ian Gillan.

Jon Lord has said on a DVD that the band's studio albums including the Concerto For Group And Orchestra live album usually went like a GOOD album followed by a NOT SO GOOD album then followed by another GOOD album the example given is-

Shades of Deep Purple good
The Book of Taliesyn not so good
Deep Purple good
The concerto For Group And Orchestra not so good
In Rock good
Fireball not so good
Machine Head good
Who Do We Think We Are not so good
Burn good
Stormbringer not so good
Come Taste The Band good
