Interesting list that Forbes puts out periodically. It looks like Seattle's favorite son tops the list.

I was suprised to see that george harrison is on the list.
I would have thought that Jimi Hendrix might be up there.

yeah, the Hendrix Estate is pretty lucrative. It IS surprising not to see it.

I can't say I REALLY know what's up 'n'at. But I'm pretty sure this list is misleading. It's not that Mr. Kurt Cobain is the most popular dead celebrity; it's that Kurt sells the most stuff from his catolouge -- mainly regarding sales to commercails and such! The reason the Kurt is the top of the list right now is because Courtney Love sold those shares of the Nirvana royalty catolouge.

I think it is safe to say, that list needs to be udated and add Michael Jackson to the top of the list.

Emusic added Sony's Hendrix collection which is pretty comprehensive. I expect his to rise. The biggest thing now is the ability to buy individual songs as well as complete albums.
