The reunion of Black Sabbath this year has taken place without original drummer Bill Ward, who is not participating due to a contract dispute. Throughout the ordeal, we have seen Ward say that he would love to play with them again, and Ozzy Osbourne state that his old friend is welcome. So, we’ve been asking, what’s been stopping them from working out a deal?

Apparently, it’s Tony Iommi. In a new interview, the guitarist says that, although he’s never going to say never, for now they’re sticking with Tommy Clufetos, drummer for Osbourne’s solo work.

“We’ll always have a heart for Bill,” he told Blairing Out. “But I think it’s gone past that now. It’s gone on so long that I don’t see that happening at the moment. Maybe at some point we might do it.”

In the video below, Iommi also discusses his struggles with cancer, the new album, working with Rick Rubin and shares fond memories of the late, great Ronnie James Dio, Osbourne’s replacement in Black Sabbath.

Sabbath’s upcoming album has a projected release date of April 2013. The metal legends will then play four concerts in Australia between Apr. 25 and May 4, and will headline the second night of Ozzfest Japan on May 12.

I like that they're working with Rick Rubin, he has produced some of the best metal albums.

Rick Rubin is hit or miss with me, but when he's on target the results are excellent.

Ward...tired of the same old same old story, plenty of blame to go 'round but in this mess I think everyone should have kicked their "handlers" out of the room and made something fair to everyone. Letting "your people" negotiate this kind of thing is never a good idea.:nw:

Glad Tony is doing okay...but Cancer is a formidable foe, I recall Carl Sagan one of my heroes beat his serious bout of cancer only to pass away from pneumonia and other complications, he had nothing left to fight with after they killed off the cancer cells.

I won't be purchasing this new album. Hypocritical of me, considering I just bought the new KISS LP. I can't stand these veteran heroes screwing each other over. Just leaves me with a bad taste. I realize bands members aren't always the best of friends, but advertising the "classic line up" and putting some jobber on the drum throne is just pathetic. Drummers don't have that groove today that they had in the early 70's. Modern drummers are streamlines and lack variety and influence. Bill Ward had a "swing" about him on those early Sab records. Tommy what's his name is just another modern drummer.

I won't be supporting this reunion. It's all manager and lawyer BS. No respect for the fans. It's all about money.

I om the other hand will be buying it to go along with every other Sabbath album that I own. Money grab or not, there will no doubt be some gems in there.
